Meet our Governing Body

Simon Newell - Chair of Governors

I have been on the Governing Board for just over 4 years and have acted as Chair of Governors for the past two school years.  My special interests within governance are in safeguarding.

I am also a parent of two former pupils at the school, which sparked my interest in giving back to the school and wider community in my role as governor.

Away from school life, I am a qualified solicitor and am currently the National Legal Training Manager for a Civil Service Department where I am responsible for the training and development of nearly 3000 legal staff.

.

Phil Banks

I am pleased to have joined the Governing body of Myland School in 2019 as a Parent Governor and now as a co-opted governor. I have been a resident of Myland for over twelve years and have two children, one who previously attended Myland School, (a son currently at secondary school) and a daughter in Year Four.

I have worked across the public sector for over fifteen years providing analysis to drive improvements across areas such as crime and disorder, social care, the built environment and more recently at the local acute health trust. My interests include history, in which I am currently undertaking a postgraduate degree.

Stewart Roberts

It is a privilege to have joined the Governing Body of Myland School in 2019 as a parent governor and now as a co-opted governor. I have two daughters both at Myland School, the eldest being in Year 4 and the youngest in Year 1.

I will be looking to use skills and values obtained from my profession to support the school in its aims and objectives to provide the best education and keep our children safe. I have worked in Technology Project Management for over 10 years, so have sound experience in working as part of a team to solve problems and I understand the importance of listening to, and managing key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

Raising young children in the Myland area gives me a vested interest in ensuring the school works                                            well for my family and provides me with a genuine interest in ensuring the same for others too.
