Friday 17th July 2020

Hi Beech Class,

It was lovely to speak to you on Wednesday. You have all worked incredibly hard over the last few months and I am very proud of you all. It has been a pleasure to teach Beech Class this year and I am only sorry that it got cut short. Have an amazing summer holiday and make sure that you stay safe.

We are not setting any work for next week, instead we have included some fun summer activities for you to try. I hope that you enjoy them. Don't forget to work on your times tables and continue to read interesting books.

Have a good rest and I look forward to seeing you when you come back to school in September.

Summer Fun Activities

Hi Beech Class,

I hope that you are all keeping safe and well. I have had another lovely week with the children in my Bubble Group. The children have been working hard and enjoyed taking part in a Myland quiz. In other news, I have finally reached 140 sit ups!! Mrs Foster is already looking for another challenge for us to complete. I am hoping that it doesn't involve burpees as they are not my favourite.

This week you have a selection of maths games to choose from. They include different operations and lots of fun activities for you to complete. You will be continuing with your project on the Caribbean and comparing it to a region in the U.K. I have included the key information and tasks to remind you what to do. There are also some more PE challenges for you to try, I hope that you enjoy them.

I will be making my next set of phone calls on Wednesday 15th July. I hope that I will have the opportunity to speak to as many of you as possible as it will likely be the last time that I call.

Keep up the amazing work. Don't forget to continue to send in your photographs of all the exciting things that you have been doing.

Take care,

Love from Miss Lee xxx

Hi Beech Class,

I hope that you are all keeping safe and well. I have had a lovely week with a group of children in my bubble. I have continued with the sit up challenge and am now up to 120 sit ups. It still feels like a long way to go until I reach 140!

Thank you to everyone who has sent in photographs and emails. It is really nice to hear from you and see all the exciting things that you have been doing. You have all been working really hard and I am incredibly proud of you all.

We have included some new activities for you to complete. In Maths you will be completing some addition and subtraction challenges. Your project work has been split over a two week block as you will be using your knowledge of a region in the U.K and comparing and contrasting it to the Caribbean.

Keep up the good work and stay safe.

Hi Beech Class,

I hope that you are all keeping safe and well. We have had some lovely weather so I hope that you have been having fun in the sunshine. I have been going on walks with my mum's dog called Cookie. He loves having a swim in the stream when I take him to the woods.

This week you will be researching facts about habitats in Wales and the species that are native to the area. In maths, you will be revising work on the four operations. There are some more PE activities for you to try. I hope that you enjoy them.

In other news, I am now up to 90 sit ups. Mrs Foster has already completed 100 so I hope to catch up with her soon.

I hope that I will get to chat to you all soon when I make my next home calls.

Take care and stay safe. I miss you all loads.

Hi Beech Class,

I hope that you are all keeping safe and well. It was lovely to talk to some of you this week and hear what you have been up to. Thank you to all of the children who have continued to send in photographs of your work. Your projects look amazing.

This week the focus is on researching habitats in different regions of Northern Ireland and the native species that inhabit the area. In Maths you will be continuing with your work on data handling, drawing tally charts, pictograms and bar charts. You will also be using the data that you have collected as part of your 'Weather Watcher' work from last week to complete a bar chart and pictogram of your results. Don't worry if you were unable to complete the weather activity, alternative activities have been provided. As it is Father's Day on Sunday we have included some ideas for cards and colouring activities for you to use if you wish to.

Next week is National Sports Week 2020. Active Essex have put together some challenges for you to do each day. If you would like to take part, click on the link below and you will be able to access lots of resources such as videos and activity ideas for you to complete. Don't forget to take photographs of you trying out lots of different sports and send them into us to see.

In other news, I have continued with the sit up challenge and am now up to 70 sits ups. It still feels a long way to 140!

I hope that you all have a good weekend and that the weather will improve so that you can enjoy the sunshine.

Stay safe and take care,

Hi Beech Class,

I hope that you are all keeping safe and well. I know that the weather has been a bit miserable this week. Hopefully it will brighten up soon.

We have included some new activities for you to complete this week. The theme is based around Scotland and you will be researching habitats in different regions in Scotland as well as finding out about species that are native to the area. In Maths, you will be revising your work on interpreting data in the form of pictograms, bar charts and tables. There are also a couple of problem solving activities for you to complete if you want a bit of a challenge. Art is based on the work of the artist Andy Goldsworthy and his use of natural materials.

During the week you will become 'weather watchers' and will be recording the weather everyday. Please try to complete this activity as you will be using the data in the maths activities the following week.

In other news Mrs Foster has challenged me to take part in a 30 day sit up challenge, with the final day involving 140 sit ups! I will let you know how I get on.

I will be making my home learning calls next week so I hope that I will be able to speak to some of you and hear how you are getting on. Thank you for all the emails and photographs of your work. I really do like seeing them.

Stay safe,

Activities for w/c 15th June

Hi Beech Class,

I hope that you have all been keeping safe and well. It was lovely to speak to some of you today. Thank you to everyone who has been sending photographs of your work. I am so proud of how hard you have all been working. Keep up the good work!

From this week, onwards, you will have a 6 week project to work on. Our project is all about the U.K and the natural habitats which can be found throughout the country. You will need to think carefully about how to present it each week so that it will come together as a complete fact file.

Take care and stay safe,

Hi Beech Class,

I hope that you have all enjoyed your half term and have had lots of fun in the lovely weather. I have been spending lots of time in my garden and have been on some nice walks near where I live.

I have included some new activities for you to complete next week. In SPAG you will be focussing on punctuation and checking and adding in missing punctuation. In English we are using pictures as a stimulus so please make sure that you check the activities for each day. There is a project on the Romans for you to explore as well as revising work on the human skeleton. In Maths you will be revisiting your work on number and place value. An answer booklet has also been included.

Please remember that you can continue to send pictures of your work as well as all the fun activities that you have enjoyed to the office via email. It is always nice to see what you have been up to.

Take care and stay safe,

Love Miss Lee xxx

Hi Beech Class,

I hope that you are all keeping safe and well. Thank you to everyone who has emailed me photos of their work. I have seen some lovely pieces of art work supporting the NHS as well as fun activities such as cooking and pond dipping.

As it is half term next week we have reduced the number of activities that we have provided. There is a cricket challenge for you to try as well as some art work for you to complete. Some of the activities might mention the school grounds but they can easily be swapped with exploring your garden. There is also a '50 things to do indoors' list that you can work through. You may need to look up some of the activities that it suggests.

I hope that you all have a lovely week and can't wait to see photographs of what you have been up to.

Stay safe,

I have included a selection of activities for the week. In Maths you will be revising your knowledge of recognising coins and adding and subtracting amounts. I have also included some money problems for you to challenge yourselves. I know that some of you have been missing our Maths Badges so I have included some speed grids involving different operations. I hope that you find them useful. English is based around a short film clip, with set activities for each day. There are also some Science activities to review prior learning on light and teeth. I know that a lot of you enjoyed the art activity from last week. Mrs Foster has found another flower activity for you to try. She has also continued with her reading of 'The Famous Five' chapters.

Have a lovely weekend.

We know that we sent you home with a huge pack of work and we are not expecting you to have completed it! We just thought it would be nice to send through some further ideas to go alongside the activities that we have already set.

We have added some ideas to help with reading. The pages of questions can be shared with your parents and can be used with any books that you are reading at the moment. Just keep reading and enjoying your books.

We have added a new comprehension activity on the Romans for once you have completed the others we have given you in the pack.
