Week beginning 13th July 2020

Dear Larch class,

I would like to start off my class message by thanking all of the parents for being so resilient and supportive this year. It has been an absolute pleasure to teach Larch and be a part of their journey.

We started off this year by getting to know each other, looking at different animals in science, comparing and ordering numbers in maths and investigating clues in order to solve the mystery of ‘Little Red’ We were also treated to a lovely workshop from ‘Perform’ where we took part in some theatrical choreography.

Due to current circumstances, this academic year has been shorter than usual but what a year it has been. We have created so many fantastic memories.

It has been an absolute pleasure to teach all of you.

Week beginning Monday 6th July 2020

Dear Larch,

How are you all? I hope you have been enjoying your time at home with your families and loved ones. Here at school we have been working really hard on our project and doing some lovely singing.

This week I have added a story which I hope you will love.

Over the next couple of weeks I will be making my final phone calls and I am really looking forward to hearing your voices.

Miss you all so much.

Journey Into Space

Blast off on an incredible space adventure! Join bold explorers Max and Rosie as they prepare for a daring journey into outer space. Their mission is to brin...

Week beginning Monday 29th June

Dear Larch,

I miss you all very much! I can’t believe it is already July. As you may know some of your friends from Year 1 have been back in the school for a couple of weeks now. We have been doing exactly the same activities that you have been completing at home. We have also done a lot of reading by taking turns and reading eBooks from the Smart board in the classroom. I noticed that some children have lost their confidence when reading so I would really like to encourage you all to read as much as possible at home. It can be any child friendly book. Getting used to social distancing as well as completing our project is tricky but we are making good progress.

This week I would like to say a big thank you to Finn R, Albert and Nancy who have sent me some really lovely photos of their project work. I feel very proud.

I hope to speak to you all very, very soon. Take care and look after each other.

Love,

Miss Strupka

Week beginning Monday 22nd June 2020

Dear Larch,

I really miss you all. I can not believe how fast this year has flown by.  I would like to mention how impressed I have been with your behaviour, patience and growth mindset this year. One of my biggest aims as a teacher has always been to make sure that all my students grow up to be kind, responsible and caring citizens. All of you have been super good at all these things.

This week I received a video from Isabelle and Albert. They came up with a song about the Corona virus. This video absolutely made my day. I was smiling all the way from Colchester to Ipswich when travelling back home at the end of the day. 😊

I know all of you have done all kinds of creative things. Also, a big thank you to Nancy, Trisha and Martin for all the lovely photos that you have sent me this week.

All of you are such amazing and creative learners. Keep it up boys and girls.

Love,

Miss Strupka

Daily maths activities

Week beginning 15/06/20

Dear Larch,

I hope you have all had a good week. It was really nice to be able to speak to you and your parents. I am glad to hear that some of you have started researching your favourite animals. Some of my favourite animals include cats, dogs, alpacas and camels. I really enjoyed learning about how amazing and different these animals are. Hopefully, you have learned some really cool facts which you can tell me when I call you next time.

If you have a nice piece of work that you have created I would really like to see it. I am not going to mark it as at the moment we do not mark any homework. However, I would like to stick a photo of your work in our yearbook. I think it would be really nice to remember all the things we have created during lockdown.

I hope you enjoy the activities this week and please remember that they are not compulsory.

I miss you all very much.

Daily maths activities

Week beginning 8/6/20

Dear Larch,

I hope all of you are well. I am super happy to see that many of you have been reading some fantastic books. I have been putting all of the photos that I have received in our yearbook. If you wish to send me more photos you are always more than welcome to. I read and look at every single email that comes through.

I also want to say a big thank you to all of the parents in Larch. I understand that it has been really difficult to juggle so many things all at once during these uncertain times. Thank you all for your ongoing support and hard work. You have done really well and from the emails that I have received I can tell that you are trying to stay positive as much as you can.

I will be making phone calls next Thursday and I am really looking forward to hearing how you all have been getting on.

From this coming week the children will be set a project called ‘Beautiful Britain’. This will replace the activities for English and topic. Alongside this the children have phonics and maths activities they are welcome to complete. Please remember that these activities are not compulsory.

I am looking forward to speaking to all of you next week.

Best wishes,

Miss Strupka

It has been such a lovely week. I have noticed that some of you have been taking part in various online competitions. What a great idea!

Every time when I receive your photos I have a big smile on my face as I can see that all of you have definitely grown.

I still hope that we will be able to see each other very very soon. In the meantime look after each other, enjoy the sun and read some lovely books.

Miss you all,

Dear Larch,

I have really enjoyed looking at all photos that you have sent me this week. I am glad to see how all of you have been staying active by doing a range of different activities such as cycling, cooking, creative writing and many more.

It was lovely to speak to all of you and your parents. You all have been doing such a great job. I am amazed with how inventive Larch class has been. Some of you have created your very own diaries while others designed new games.
