Hi Maple Class,

It has been another busy week in school - it was great to see more of your lovely faces. I hope that those of you working from home have had a great week too. I also hope that you have been enjoying the transition project 'Be Awesome - Go Big!' Don't forget to continue this into next week as there are nine sessions.

To those of you that I didn't see in school this week, it was great to speak to you and your parents over the phone. Remember to look back at the class page on Monday for a special message.

Have a lovely weekend!

Hi Maple Class,

I have been lucky enough to welcome different Year 6 children into school this week and we have all had a fantastic week. I hope those of you that have been working from home have all had a great week too! It has been amazing to see all of your finished memory books – they are all stunning and reflect your individual personalities. Well done for doing such a great job on them. Don’t forget to send us photos of your completed memory books as we love seeing them!

As your memory books should now be finished, next week you will have worked linked to secondary school transition. There are nine sessions (which need to be completed in order) with different activities based on the book, ‘You are Awesome’ by Matthew Syed.  There are extracts included so you don’t need to read the whole book but if you do have it, I would definitely recommend it! There is also a workbook to complete but don’t worry if you can’t print this – you could use a notebook instead!

This will be the last set of resources for the website before the end of term so I hope you enjoy completing them but do look back on the class page next week for a special message. 😊

Have a great weekend and enjoy some sunshine.

Miss. Pender  smiley

Hi Maple Class,

I hope you have all had a fantastic week! It has been amazing to welcome some of you back this week – I hope you all enjoyed your time back at school. All of your memory books are looking great too!

Next week, I look forward to welcoming more of you back at school. We have attached grammar and maths slides to keep you busy and I have also attached the slides that the children in school will be using – you might notice some repeats as we have different children in our bubbles so don’t worry about completing it twice, just focus on getting your memory book completed!

Have a great weekend and enjoy next week too!

Hi Maple Class,

I hope you have all had a fantastic week in the sunshine! It has been very HOT! I also hope that you have been enjoying creating your memory books. I have loved receiving your emails with photos of them.

I have been busy in school preparing to welcome lots of you back over the next few weeks. We are all really looking forward to it! If you aren’t coming in, don’t worry – we will make sure that what we use in school is online too so you don’t miss out.

Don’t forget to keep sending emails with photos and messages of things that you have been up to!

Viktor – Your book review is super! I am pleased you are enjoying Michael Morpurgo.

Jemimah – A beautiful photo in the garden! Your sunflowers look great.

Dominic – It is great to hear that you have been continuing the Joe Wicks sessions. Keep it up.

Jayden – Your memory book pages are looking great! Well done.

Have a great weekend and I look forward to welcoming some of you on Monday,

Miss. Pender 😊

Home learning for week beginning Monday 29th June 2020

Hi Maple Class,

I hope you have all enjoyed your week. I have loved receiving photos of your Year 6 memory books so far – don’t forget to keep sending them in!

Jemimah – It looked like you had a wonderful day at the beach!

Jayden – Your memory book looks great so far – I can’t wait to see more.

Lexie – Well done for completing lots of your memory book, your handwriting looks stunning!

Viktor – Your memory book is looking great so far!

We have updated your maths and grammar challenges for next week – I hope you enjoy! In addition to this, next week is ‘National School Sport Week’ which celebrates the important role of Physical Education and school sport in enhancing young people’s wellbeing. The Youth Sport Trust has teamed up with Sky Sports to run a national campaign which aims to unite the country – families, schools, sport and businesses – in a celebration of the power of sport to bring people together, even during isolation. Active Essex have also worked closely with the School Games Organisers team to bring you a challenge a day for the week that you can do at home. You can find all of these here: https://bit.ly/NSSWEssex.

Thank you to those of you who have sent in messages for the final pages of the Year Book. Don’t forget to send these in to admin@myland.essex.sch.uk. We also e-mailed your parents a letter last Wednesday so please ask them to check their e-mails 😊.

I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the different activities for next week.

Home learning for week beginning Monday 22nd June 2020

Hi Maple Class,

What a fantastic week it has been! Mrs Carter and I have LOVED coming to visit lots of you on your doorsteps. We hope that you find the resources that we have dropped off useful and can’t wait to see your memory books. Don’t forget to send us lots of photos. We walked LOTS but enjoyed every second as we got to see all of you. Thank you all for making the experience a great one with your kind words, cards and gifts – seeing your smiling faces was more than enough!

Dominic – Your Joe Wicks t-shirt looks fantastic!

Jemimah – Well done for completing yoga this week – it looked like you had lots of fun!

Next week, we would really like it if you could e-mail us in a message (to admin@myland.essex.sch.uk) that you would like to put in the final pages of the Year Book. It could include your favourite memory. If you have any photos of you (and your school friends for example, from Aylmerton or school events) to include with this message, then please send those in too. You might even have some photos from previous year groups that you could include. Please try to send your messages and any photographs to us by Wednesday 17th June. 😊  We will be able to share the finished Year Book with you at your Leavers’ event (as we said, we will do something whenever we can – even if it is later in the year!). Your message only needs to be short – for example “Thanks for a great year, Maple! I will always remember performing our text map to the rest of the school in assembly, especially the ‘Power of 3’ sentence - Ilya leaped across the stream, dashed behind a tombstone and crouched as still as a statue! We had great moves!”

We have also attached some extra English and maths challenges for you to complete alongside your memory book project.

Have a great week Maple!

Miss. Pender 😊
