About Our School

Myland Primary School

                                                  Our School

Myland Primary School is a larger than average primary school, situated in a fast growing part of North Colchester. We are a well established, over subscribed and very successful school: even though we have eleven classes, we still retain a 'family feel' and visitors unfailingly comment on the very special atmosphere found at our school.

We have eleven classes organised into four teaching teams across the school:

  • Reception
  • Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)
  • Lower Key Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4)
  • Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6)

Each team is led by a Phase Leader, who co-ordinates the work of the team. Teachers plan carefully and are adept at providing high quality experiences across the range of subjects covered by the National Curriculum.

Outcomes across the school are very high and, in recognition of our expertise in teaching Phonics, Early Reading and Language, we are one of only 34 schools across the country to be designated as an English Hub by the Department for Education. We support other schools to improve their practice and have lots of visitors who come to our school to see our very  effective ways of working.
