This week, in Year 5, our maths work has focused on angles and the complicated language that comes with describing them! We have learned lots of facts and an associated dance to help us remember them! In English, we have really cracked punctuating dialogue and embedding it in our narrative writing.
I was incredibly proud this week of the way all of Rowan approached an RE lesson that focused on the meaning and purpose of life. It was wonderful to see some of their ambitions for the future. We have also completed some independent research this week, finding out about ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses. We spoke a lot about the importance of the reliability of the internet sources we are using.
Today, it has been great to see everyone in red for Red Nose Day as well as in their odd socks to celebrate neurodiversity!
Have a great weekend.

This week, maths in Year 5 has focused on area and perimeter and I have been so impressed with how the children have been able to apply their skills to finding the area of very complex, compound shapes. We have also been learning about daily life for those who lived in Ancient Egypt, completing our own research and studying different artefacts. In Computing, we have started to look at compiling our own databases having learned how easy they can make sorting data, especially into alphabetical order and removing duplicates!
Have a lovely weekend. Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Meachen :)
Welcome back after half term! We got off to a flying start this week, with Year 6 focusing on their revision for SATs. We have also started our new text for this half term, 'Wonder' by R. J. Palacio. We have completed some beautiful watercolour portraits inspired by this. In P.E, we are completing some circuit training and trying to improve our finished. We enjoyed learning some new movements, including tricep dips and lunges!
Have a nice weekend.

We have made it to half term! It has been a very busy final 4 days which culminated in a wonderful art focused day today. It has been great to see the children’s creativity across a range of skills. At the start of the week, we completed a set of assessments to help us plan for after half term and, I have to say, I could not be prouder of the way everyone approached these and improvements are really evident across the board. The children have been great at looking for what they have done really well and also identifying any areas where they need some more work.
Well done everyone – you all deserve a very restful break!
See you after half term. 😊

This week, we finished reading 'Stitch Head' as a class and it is great to see so many children now reading other stories from this Guy Bass series.
It has also been Children's Mental Health Week this week. Everyone has been journaling daily and we really enjoyed taking part in a 'know yourself, grow yourself' gardening activity too.
In maths, we have worked with algebra which, on the face of it, some children initially thought they would find tricky but actually, we are all great pattern spotters and have been able to find unknowns using our knowledge of number.
We have lots to fit in to our final week of this half term next week, including some assessments and some persuasive writing. I look forward to seeing you at Parent Teacher Consultations next week - please make sure you have an appointment for Tuesday or Thursday.
Have a nice weekend.

We have had a real focus on writing this week and I am so impressed with the independent ‘Tales of Fear’ the children have written. These are well on their way to being published into our own books which we are really proud of. If you get a chance to pop in for our ‘At Home’ evening on a Monday, then please make sure you have a read of these in our English books. We have also started stitching our own cushions in DT this week and our needle and thread work is definitely improving! In Computing, we have been working with spreadsheets – everyone was amazed at how quickly Excel can do a calculation for us when we know the right formula!
Have a great weekend.
