Hello!
In English, we are looking at adapting our model text together. We are identifying elements we can develop to create a diary entry written by Hansel and Gretel! In maths, we continue to look at 'lots of' and 'groups of'. Yesterday, we completed a lesson in doubling. The children explored what doubling would look like on ten frames and by drawing base ten!
The children have worked very hard this half-term and I hope you all enjoy a well deserved rest this coming week!

Hello!
This week, we have been looking at exciting vocabulary to include in diary entries. We thought about comfortable and uncomfortable emotions and challenged ourselves to gather wonderful words such as 'perplexed' and 'enraged' to use later in our writing. In maths, we have been looking at the multiplication symbol and what it means. The children have been learning how we can use the phrases 'groups of' and 'lots of'.
In computing, the children have had a fantastic time using the Bee Bots. This week, they created their own maps based around a theme. They then programmed the Bee Bots to travel around their map from a start to an end point. As a challenge, they then had pictures of cones they had to place on their map. They had to avoid these at all costs!
Have a lovely week.

Happy New Year! It was lovely to see all the children this week, and they all had wonderful memories to share from their holidays.
We have had a great start to the Spring Term and the children have been keen to start their new topics!
In English, the children have been learning their new text map for a suspense story. The children have become really confident recalling the story of Hansel and Gretel. This week, the children have also looked at openers they could use to build suspense in their writing. We had an excellent class discussion and the children came up with some brilliant ideas.
In Maths, the children are working with numbers up to 100. This half-term we will also be looking at the 5 x tables.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. Lewis, Mrs. Pinder and Miss Wilkinson-Rouse
