    Welcome to Birch Class

    Classteachers: Mrs. H. Love/Mrs. L. Dhanak

    2025-26

    Week Beginning 15.06.26

This week, we have been exploring a new concept in Maths - sharing.  We have looked at how to share collections of objects equally and fairly and how to recognise and 'fix' when something is not shared into equal groups.  We have also explored whether ALL numbers of objects can be shared fairly and, if not, why not?

We have continued our work using the book 'Blown Away' and the children are enjoying representing character and setting.  We are even trying out being illustrators and drawing in the style of Rob Biddulph, thanks to his 'Draw With Rob' series of tutorials!

What is subitising and WHY is it so important in young children's maths?
