    Welcome to Birch Class

    Classteachers: Mrs. H. Love/Mrs. L. Dhanak

    2025-26

    Week Beginning 08.06.26

Birch class have been experts in shape this week!  They have explored the composition of shapes and then decomposing them.  It was wonderful to see them working collaboratively to use existing shapes to create new ones.  They are becoming so confident in using shape language to describe what they see (such as corner, side, rotate).

Birch have also been diving deep into a new book this week and were thrilled to discover that it is by the same author as 'The Blue Footed Booby'.  They predicted what the story might be about by using the clues on the front cover and they are agreeing and disagreeing with one another very respectfully in lessons; what mature learning!

The children were quick to spot that both books have a bird as the main character and wondered whether the author is a bird fan.  They have been voting for another author, too - Jon Klassen.  We have been sharing his very cheeky books this week and Birch have been devouring the stories we vote for!
