Birch Class

Welcome to Birch Class

Classteachers: Mrs. H. Love/Mrs. L. Dhanak

Week Beginning 5.05.2025

The children are all looking forward to our trip to Abberton Reservoir tomorrow. Please see below for a trip checklist:

School uniform to be worn

Comfortable shoes with good grip can be worn instead of school shoes

If sunny, they will need a named sunhat and have sun cream applied before school

If wet/drizzly they will need waterproofs

Every child needs to bring a packed lunch

Every child will need a separate healthy snack and two drinks

Thank you for all your support in ensuring your child has above on the day.

This week we have been reading 'Mr Hoot', learning about wild birds and how to care for their homes. Our maths lessons have been focused on exploring patterns and 3D shapes.

Our P.E. day in Birch is a Wednesday. Please make sure that your child gets themselves dressed at home.  Some children are still finding this very tricky and are spending lots of time getting themselves changed!

Thank you,

Mrs. Love and Mrs. Dhanak

Please find Tricky Words below to practise reading at home. Feel free to print them and cut out as flashcards, see if they can read them on screen, or work together to spot them in books. These words are called Tricky Words because (at the moment), we can't sound them out - we just have to learn to read them.

What is subitising and WHY is it so important in young children's maths?

A video explaining what our focus is at school and why it is important.
